WATERLOO WARRIORS FASTPITCH

09/07

Hi everyone, I just wanted to take a quick moment to congratulate you all on a great opening weekend of league play. It's been just over a year now that I have had this amazing opportunity to be a part of this program, and I continue to be excited about where we were, and where we can go! This past weekend was evidence to us all that our team is a much more competitive group this season, and the future looks bright for us as well.

I appreciate the roles that everyone played this weekend to help make the weekend a success. As we look back now, we see that Ryerson finished the weekend 3-3, as did Toronto... so those two teams do appear to perhaps be on the higher side of the competition scale in the Eastern Division. Winning 2 of those games was key... and heck we almost had the chance to go 4-0. This is what we can all expect each week, competitive close games that will come down to the wire.

A reminder that next week we have games Saturday at home (Budd Park) vs Windsor at 2 & 4 pm. Then on Sunday we are taking a bus down to Western. The bus will leave at 9:30 from the CIF parking lot. Our Western games are at 12pm and 2pm.

I would once again like to reiterate that we have a large club roster. Being part of the club means you are able to attend practices, team events, etc. It however doesn't mean that you are guaranteed to see action in OIWFA league games. The coaching team selects the starting players based on merit, skill and sometimes a hunch on how things could play out. In game it is my accountability to make moves that I believe put our team in the best position to win each game. Sometimes I will make the right decision, and sometimes I won't. If attending our league games and perhaps not participating on field during the game is not something that you want to be a part of, that is completely understandable. I have always said your first priority at the University should be your education and that won't ever change.

Our club leaders in several discussions over the last year, said the club's goal is to win OIWFA league games. I am trying to achieve that. Being part of the club isn't limited to the OIWFA component. We have the indoor/outdoor practices that are open to everyone. I would also like to explore playing 1 or 2 exhibition games against PWSA clubs this month. Those games are a chance for players that don't see regular playing time in the OIWFA league games, to take part in an actual game.

If anyone has any questions you're always able to ask.

Our next team event is Wednesday 6PM at CIF diamond.

Regards,

Chris Meyer
