Sunday at CIF the Warriors once again took to the practice field to continue their pre-season work. A couple of returning players made it out Sunday, which will serve to further some tough roster decisions for the coaching team in the coming days. On field Sunday the team had a chance to look at some of the pitching prospects, and also saw ample opportunity for the players to get some good swings in vs live pitching.
Next up is this coming Thursday, when the team will continue preparation for the pre-season double-header scheduled for Labour Day Monday, when the Warriors will face the University of Guelph and Mohawk College.
Warriors Fastpitch had an excellent first session on Saturday as our returning athletes were joined by several incoming recruits to begin preparation for the fall 2019 season. Practicing for the first time on the new CIF diamond located right on campus, the team ran through a series of drills including defensive infield & outfield, as well as some batting practice.
Our coaching team shared plans for the upcoming season, practice times, and the fall schedule. The group is back at it Sunday with a second evaluation session planned for 3:30 at the CIF diamond.
Due to the increased interest in Waterloo Fastball, the Warriors have decided to hold a Spring Player Evaluation before exams start this April. Our date and time is as follows:
- Sunday April 7th 3:30 to 5:00PM at CIF Gymnasium #3
All returning players, existing members of the Waterloo student community as well as fall 2019 prospective freshman are encouraged to attend this event. We are not choosing or selecting the team based on this event, however the coaching team will have a better understanding of the players and their skill level heading into training this fall. If you plan to attend, please reach out to us via email or contact us on social media!
