Warriors Battle But Lose 2 to Mustangs
The first road series of the 2021 season, saw the Warriors head down to London to play the defending league champion Western Mustangs. The series was also Western's Minor Softball Day, which saw young players participating in a series of contests during breaks in the action.
Game 1 - Western 7, Waterloo 0
The Warriors went toe to toe with the Mustangs through the first 3 innings, then in the 4th Western finally cracked the scoreboard stringing together a series of hits to take a 6-0 lead after 4 innings. Waterloo only managed 3 hits of the Mustangs starter, and one inning later the score went final at 7-0. Guen O'Hara led the team offensively collecting two of the teams three hits in the game. O'Hara also started the game and was dealing early in the game.
Game 2 - Western 7, Waterloo 5
Game 2 saw the Mustangs score 2 in the 1st, and 2 more in the 2nd to lead 4-0 at the end of the second inning. Waterloo again struggled to mount anything at the plate. In the 4th inning Western would add a 5th run, to take a 5-0 lead. Waterloo then broke through with a single run in the 4th, and 2 more in the 5th to make the score 5-3. The Mustangs would get two insurance runs in the 6th inning to lead 7-3, and Waterloo again scored 2 runs to get within 2, but the Mustangs would snuff out anything further to hold onto the 7-5 win. Katilyn Satchell had 2 base hits for the Warriors, and Zoe Moore's double saw her have 2 RBI's. Alexa Oriecuia, Olivia Gilbert, Sydney Daniels and Guen O'Hara saw time on the mound for the Warriors.
