Hawks Take Two...
After a long hard two weeks of effort to get the team cleared for game action, the Warriors opened their 2021 OIWFA season with two home games at Hillside Park against cross-town rival Wilfrid Laurier. Waterloo opened the season with 13 new players on the roster, vs the last time a league game was played in 2019.
Game 1 - Laurier 10, Waterloo 3
A scoreless game early was broken in the 2-inning when the Hawks jumped ahead quickly with 5 runs in the second inning. Waterloo couldn't recover from that early lead, and despite single runs in the 2nd and 3rd inning trailed 5-2 before Laurier would strike again for another 2 runs in the 4th. Waterloo wasn't able to get any closer and the game ended 10-3. Raegan Cressman had 2 hits in the loss.
Game 2 - Laurier 10, Waterloo 3
The second game resulted in the same final score as game 1. Waterloo jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but the Hawks stormed back and lead 7-1 after three innings. The Warriors could only muster up 5 hits over the course of the game, and couldn't rally from that early hole. Guen O'Hara scored 2 of the 3 Warrior runs. Oliva Gilbert, Logan Meston, and Megan Davitsky all made their OIWFA pitching debuts in this second game.
