Warriors Fastpitch successfully hosted our first fundraising tournament the weekend of June 7th to 9th at several diamonds in the Kitchener-Waterloo community. The tournament was attended by 23 teams in two divisions (U16 & U19). Teams battled initially in pool play, and then into playoff brackets.
The U16 event was won by the Halton Hawks, as they came from behind in the final inning to defeat the Palmerston Marlins in the final game. The Hawks earlier that day defeated the #2 seed Waterloo Ghosts in the semi-final. The Marlins reached the final by knocking out the UTM 2K4 team in the morning match.
The U19 tournament had two playoff brackets. The main bracket was won by the Oakville Angels who were the only team over the entire weekend to not lose one game. Oakville defeated the Waterloo Ghosts Gold team in the final game. These two teams have been to Canadian Nationals several times in recent years. In the other bracket final it was the Quebec Rebelles, beating the Guelph Gators.
Warriors Fastpitch thanks all teams for attending and looks to make this an annual event. Thank you to all our club members, coaches, and fans for devoting time over the weekend to help make it a success.
Good morning everyone, and welcome to our website! To teams travelling to the Waterloo and surrounding area this weekend for our tournament we want to thank you all for supporting our tournament. This weekend we are hosting as a fundraiser for our fastpitch program here at the University of Waterloo. Our school has been awesome the past 6 months providing us with access to athletic facilities on campus, and treating us with the same level of respect and interest that they afford other club teams here on campus. As a participant in the OIWFA league, we have travel costs associated with league play, and other expenses such as diamond rentals, uniforms, etc. that aren't covered by the University. This tournament is helping our athletes out in that regard.
As a club, we practice on campus once or twice a week. Our practice sessions are open to anyone on campus. Students can participate in fastpitch on campus here, and not be part of the team that participates in the OIWFA fall league. We want to grow the awareness of the sport here on campus, and opening our practice times to everyone is one way that we have chosen to go about doing so.
If you're an existing Waterloo student, or thinking of attending the school in the future. We invite you to contact us to discuss our academic programs, facilities and our team in more detail! Our athletes will be on the diamonds this week, please feel free to ask questions of them too!
Our Fastpitch Tournament is finally here! We're now just a few days away from the opening of our 1st Warriors Fastpitch Tournament. We have over 20 teams attending from Ontario and Quebec. We would like to formally welcome everyone to the Kitchener-Waterloo area, and also thank you all for choosing to support our event.
We look forward to a great weekend of fastball, and hope your experience at and away from the park this weekend will have you wanting to come back and support our event again next year. Our student athletes will be on site at the various parks this weekend convening the event. University of Waterloo coaches will also be available if anyone has interest in attending the University of Waterloo in the next couple of years. Our coaches can get you in touch with the right people who can answer your academic questions, and at the same time can share what our vision for Warriors Fastpitch is for 2019 and beyond.
Safe travels to everyone planning to attend as an athlete, coach, parent or fan this weekend!
